It’s probably somewhere on the order of millions if you include insects.  I’d be curious to see if certain things had an effect on that rate like what time of year we were in or if the moon was full or not, etc.  Of course there only way to aggregate this level of information was if we implanted every living creature on the planet with some kind of microchip that would be in sync with geosynchronous satellites that would register instantaneously whether or not an animal (that would be designated its own unique serial number, of course) was alive or not.
